Editn – Korean Writing Check & Korean Search Publishing Assistant

Description

Editn (에디튼) adds a sidebar to the WordPress block editor for people who write in Korean. Everything runs inside your site. The plugin does not send your posts to any server.

Writing check (글 점검)

  • Phrases that read as AI-written, common Korean spelling mistakes (about 110 rules such as 몇일 며칠, 되요 돼요), mixed sentence endings, near-duplicate sentences, repeated words, sentences that start the same way, long sentences and paragraphs, inconsistent number formats, and images without alt text.
  • Click a sentence to jump to it in the editor. Turn off any check you do not need.
  • Search & AI check: focus keyword placement, title and description length for Google and Naver, headings, links, images, summary and FAQ.

Publishing (발행 준비)

  • Write the excerpt, tags, category, English slug, SEO title and description, a summary box and a Q&A box. Summary and Q&A are added to the post and output as structured data (FAQPage, BlogPosting).
  • Google and Naver search result previews.
  • Put the post title on the featured image, or make a featured image from six background templates with a Korean font (Pretendard).
  • Find your related posts and add a “read next” list.
  • Works alone or with an SEO plugin. With SureRank, Rank Math or Yoast SEO, Editn fills their fields instead of printing duplicate tags. Without one, it outputs the title, meta description, Open Graph, Twitter card and BlogPosting itself.

Site tools

  • Site Open: checks WordPress settings that matter for search (search visibility, permalinks, HTTPS, site icon, privacy page), opens your own homepage, sitemap and robots.txt the way a search engine would (homepage title, description, H1, sharing image, canonical, robots.txt rules, www redirect), and adds Naver, Google, Bing and Daum ownership verification codes. These checks only request your own site.
  • Content Audit: lists published posts that are missing a featured image, alt text, internal links, a search description, a focus keyword, a summary or headings, plus orphan posts (no internal links pointing to them), broken internal links and posts targeting the same focus keyword. Sorted by what to fix first, with quick fixes for the description, focus keyword, featured image alt text and related-post links without opening the editor.
  • Optional IndexNow ping to tell Naver and Bing about new or updated posts (off by default).

Editn Pro, a separate add-on, adds AI drafting in your own writing style and AI buttons in the same sidebar. This plugin is complete without it.

External services

This plugin connects to IndexNow only when you turn on “Notify search engines” (검색엔진에 알리기) in Editn (에디튼) Settings. It is off by default.

When it is on and you publish or update a public post, the plugin sends the post URL and your site’s IndexNow key to:

  • https://api.indexnow.org/indexnow — shared with participating search engines such as Bing. Terms: https://www.indexnow.org/terms
  • https://searchadvisor.naver.com/indexnow — Naver Search Advisor. Terms: https://searchadvisor.naver.com/policy/terms · Privacy policy: https://policy.naver.com/policy/privacy.html

Private, password-protected and draft posts are never sent, and nothing is sent while WordPress is set to discourage search engines.

FAQ

Does Editn send my posts anywhere?

No. All checks run in your browser and on your own server. The only outgoing request is the optional IndexNow ping described under External services.

Is it a full Korean spell checker?

No. It catches frequently misspelled words and expressions with a rule list that rarely gives false alarms. It does not check spacing or grammar.

Can I use it with my SEO plugin?

Yes. Editn detects SureRank, Rank Math, Yoast SEO, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, Slim SEO and Squirrly SEO, and leaves the page head to them.

Changelog

1.0.77

  • Reach counting: after the first beacon (sent when the tab is hidden or closed) a reader who comes back and reads further now sends a correction, so switching tabs midway no longer leaves the post marked as unfinished; visits are still counted once per session. Pro: post titles in the Performance table no longer show HTML entities for quotes.

1.0.76

  • Reach counting: a visitor who lands on the home page (typed URL, Naver, Google…) and then opens a post is now attributed to that entry source instead of being dropped; “read to the end” is judged by scroll position reaching the bottom of the content (hidden zero-height trailing elements no longer block it); Bricks post-content containers are recognised.

1.0.73

  • New “Performance” tab (Pro): every published post in one table with Google clicks/impressions/CTR/position (via Site Kit Search Console), where visitors came from (Naver, Google, AI answers, social, direct), how far they read, and whether they called/emailed/opened a map/sent a form, plus code-judged signals (not yet seen, just off page one, impressions without clicks, cooling, isolated, readers drop off, cited by AI, brings customers) each linked to a next action. The free plugin gains “reach counting” (Settings Reach): a tiny beacon that records only categories and counts, no cookies, IP or referrer URLs; the Discover tab is renamed “Keywords”.

1.0.72

  • Korean text check gains two readability items: “too many adverbs” (two or more intensifiers such as 정말·너무·아주 in one sentence) and “run-on sentence” (four or more clauses joined by -고/-는데/-지만). A new “sentence view” lists every sentence on its own line with its length, and “read aloud” speaks a section with the browser voice so awkward sentences are caught by ear. Everything runs in the browser; nothing leaves your site.

1.0.71

  • Site Open step 3: Naver and Google are now marked as required and Bing/Daum as optional, the step summary reads “required n / 2 · optional n / 2” and turns green once both required engines are verified, and the registration guide collapses for engines that already have a code so only the remaining ones stay expanded.
